Liverpool Regeneration
|
|
It's one of Europe's biggest
regeneration programmes and will create around 14,000 new jobs
with an investment of £3billion in the city's redevelopment.
Over the next few years Liverpool will be transformed - it's
going to be the most exciting period in Liverpool's history as
we prepare to be European Capital of Culture in 2008.
The city is investing more than £3bn over the next decade in the renewal
of its infrastructure and the regeneration of it's communities. In 2007
the city is due to celebrate the 800th anniversary of its creation after
the charter of King John and in 2008 will become European Capital of
Culture. The scale of the regeneration work planned to take place
before, during and after these events is massive with several major
projects already under way or being planned for the near future in
association with a range of public and private agencies and developers.
|
The projects will
transform the life of the city and build upon the already strong sense
of community for which Liverpool is famed. Many of these projects will
lead to significant inward investment and economic growth.
Some of the major projects include:
- The Paradise Project
- The Kings Waterfront Scheme
- The Cruise liner Facility
- CCMS - City Centre Movement
Strategy
- The Pier Head Canal Development
- Office developments in the
commercial district
- Merseytram
- The Lime Street Gateway
